That was a really cool video, I’m glad I found this post. I believe it’s all true, social media is reformatting the way the world works. Finally, people as individuals can (but aren’t always) use their textual voice be heard/read. WordPress, Digg, MySpace, all of those sites are platforms and outlets for an information era.
It’s not all correct, adequate, or useful information, though. You could contest that the problem sits right there.
Social media isn’t a fad, it’s now a lifestyle. One that i can see climbing and staying strong for a long, long time.

Texting/e-mail/blogging/chat rooms/etc. have taken away our “True Voice”. We are losing our ability to speak to one another on a personal level. We write b/c we are fearful of confrontation, rejection, & embaressment. While the social outlets are great for staying in touch, it has quickly taken away froma Verbal Skillset that we were intended to have. I have no problem with blogs, facebook, etc. But I do have a problem with people not using their voice to make conversation, confront other, encourage other, etc.

I agree, on some level, with True Voice. While watching the new Ken Burns series “National Parks” on PBS, my friend and I noticed the eloquent and grand style in which people spoke in the 18th and 19th centuries. We both commented on how current social media have taken so much away from that wonderful way of using language to fully express meaning & emotion.
