“I focus on the little things. Little things add up to big things.” ~ Michael Jordan
________________
What do you think about this quote? What was your first, natural gut reaction? I’ll give my thoughts on this topic of “little things” a little later. I wanted to hear your thoughts first.
My gut reaction? AMEN.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately: after all, the time we call “tomorrow” never does come. As Lifehouse says in one of their songs, “All we have is now/for the rest of our lives.” If we focus on making sure that we are following Jesus in the “right now” of every day, every moment, we are going to be following Him forever. There’s no need to fret about the future, our inability to make good our resolutions or anything else.
Of course, I guess that the quote is a little ambiguous. We can’t say that we shouldn’t ever think about the “Big Things.” But in real life, the Big Things seem to end up being mostly a conglomeration of little things, at least to my experience.
Throughout the time I was disabled and in a wheelchair my moto was, “Just one day closer to the golf course!” Now that I’ve reached that milestone it has become, “Just one day closer to Heaven!” Up there we will all have access to the 18th hole at The Championship Course! One difference in this championship course, we will not be awarded a green jacket. Oh no, we will all get a White Robe! in respect to the quote: At the core of this quote a divine meaning, in this life we will fight earthly battles and win earthly victories but in Heaven (the hereafter) we will have the ultimate Victory!
As Forrest Gump would say, “And that’s all I have to say about that.”
