I need your help deciding something.
As most of you know, I am economically responsible. Some might describe me as cheap, but I consider myself financially disciplined, cautious, and responsible.
One of my financial statutes is that Heather and I don’t normally go out and see movies in the theater. The rationale is why pay for a movie twice when we can wait a little longer and pay for it one time. I have gone 27+ years without watching that movie, so what is the big deal waiting a few more months till it comes out on DVD? That way we can watch the movie through our sound system on our comfortable couch and cuddled up with our dogs.
However, in the spirit of a good date night, I am contemplating breaking my financial principle to watch the Oscar award-winning movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. If I am going to break that principle, why not break it on the movie that won this year’s “Best Picture” award?

Here’s where I need your help…
If you have seen the movie, is it really good enough for the Cromer family to break down and watch it in the movie theater? What did you think about that movie? Good? Not good? Wait for the DVD? We only break down and watch a movie in the theater a couple of times a year, so I like them to be worth it when we do. I would love to hear your opinions.
I haven’t seen but also blogged about the amazing over pricing of theatres. Is the movie worth $20 to $30 bucks? Or is it worth $3.99 at Blockbuster? I like th ebig sound, smell of the popcorn movie experience myself. I like the laughter of the big crowd and the community of it all. Still, $30 bucks for two people… On the other hand you should have a date night and get off the couch
Maybe the answer to this question will help you decide. “Is this movie Shawshank Redemtion Good or Nacho Libre good?”
hope that helps…

Brian…
It’s the best movie I’ve seen in the theaters in many years. I saw this movie before it started receiving hype, and I called my dad, brother and told my friends about it as soon as I got out.
I was so enthused about it that i called up a youth kid in my group, one I’m real close with…to tell him to go see it. Unfortunately, I later realized it was rated R and I had to go back and apologize. I had no idea.
Go see it, and if you don’t like it…you can blame it on me. I think it would be good on DVD…I’ll buy it the day it comes out…but you can never beat seeing it on the big screen.
Wait.
Hey BC…as you know…we are movie watching buffs….but as for this movie…the girls and I were surprized to see that movie get that award and many others…we have yet to see that movie…and the girls and I were talking about it and if it is THAT GOOD…well we might just go. Not that me telling you this helps you decide…sorry…LOL!
If you see it before I do…let me know what you think.
Thanks…BTW>>> I will be there with Tori for that NYC Mission meeting.
Absolutely worth it. I’ve seen it twice. One of the best I have seen in a long time. And in the spirit of date night, I say go for it. The music is also fabulous, so you will enjoy the enhanced sound of the theater
Heather, it sounds like we may have a date night soon…
It is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen! We didn’t know anything about it, and it blew me away! It is not a typical R rated movie either. Every serious subject they tackle is handled with amazing discretion. I can only think that the R rating is for subject matter. Don’t let the weird dancing commercial throw you off either. That’s not even in the movie? It’s a cast wrap-up at the end – has nothing whatsoever to do with the plot.
Anyway, could not recommend it more highly. Khris and I turned around the very next day and took the kids.
