“Yes, I am going to attempt to start blogging. I hope to share a little of my brain with world wide web from time to time. I will try to write from time to time on a variety of subjects…life, faith, family, sports, random, etc. If you know me, then you know that my brain is always going. I think from the time I wake up till the time I go to bed. Let’s see if I can get some of those thoughts out on the world wide web so the entire global civilization with a computer can see them. What a brilliant idea!” – Brian Cromer, March 11, 2008

This is a quote from the first briancromer.com post ever. Nearly 9 months, 248 posts, and over 45,000 visitors later, it’s time to take a look back at the year that was. This is briancromer.com’s Top 10 Blog Posts of 2008. Some of you reading this are newer to the blog and may have missed some of the earlier moments. I invite you to click on the links and enjoy some of the moments that you may have missed. Some of you have been around since day one (Heather & Mom). I invite you to take a stroll down memory lane, maybe take a look at the comments that you have posted. Without further adieu, the Top 10…

#10 GREAT THANKSGIVING STORY – November 28, 2008

This is a story where I got to brag on my incredible wife. This is just a small taste of how amazing she truly is. I seriously am a lucky man and I know it. She is amazing. She is my best friend. And she loves God way more than she could ever love me.

#9 THE 20 WORST FOODS IN AMERICA – April 22, 2008

I love to learn. I also love to share things that I learn with you. This is one of the most interesting, disgusting, yet eye-opening blog posts of 2008. These numbers will astound you.

#8 NO SHAVE NOVEMBER VIDEO – December 1, 2008

Creating and editing videos is one of my least talked about passions. I often wish I had more time to dedicate towards growing more in this creative outlet. I made quite a few videos this years. This one is my favorite. Others from this year include YOUTH MISSIONS SUNDAY VIDEOS, CHINA VIDEO,  & OKLAHOMA CITY VIDEO.

#7 THE MINISTRY OF PRESENCE – March 18, 2008

Anytime I can point out a relevant, Biblical truth while talking about my favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, it has to be a great post. I really enjoy sports. My TV can often be found on ESPN and I could be what many call obsessed. Other good sports posts include New Favorite Olympic Sport – Handball, Horse Racing Rant, Happy Birthday Josh, Pray for Joba, Incredible Inspirational Story, and What a Debut!

*You also must check out this post – Wal-Mart, Tiger, and Dominance – because I thought it was a very interesting debate about life and sports. If this would have been the Top 11 Blog Posts of 2008, this one would have made the cut.

#6 BREAKS MY HEART – October 15, 2008

Do you understand that culture and media have a significant impact on our lives. I am always interested in taking the messages that are in our culture and holding them up to the standards and teachings of Jesus. This specific post talks about an extremely disturbing commercial I have seen multiple times. This commercial is for a website where married people can have affairs. Other culture posts include 100K Plus People, Public Schools, Picture Reaction, and Frustration with the Word Love.

#5 PIRATING MUSIC – June 4, 2008

This is one of those subjects where God really has convicted me. In today’s world full of ripping CDs, illegal downloads, file sharing, and MP3s, this subject should be taken very seriously as a follower of Jesus.

#4 CHINA BATHROOM SITUATION – July 23, 2008

In a world where funny things and priceless moments happen almost daily, very few of those moments are captured in a picture. This picture was taken while I was in China this summer for 2 weeks. Other great pictures from the year include The Stache, Chicken Feet, Picture Needing a Caption RESULTS, Funny Picture, and Sitting Pretty.

#3 PLAYING CHURCH – December 2, 2008

Yes, I love sports. Yes, I love culture. But my biggest passion is Jesus and his church. Recently God has been stirring a holy discontent when it comes to American church. This post is my attempt at trying to put those holy discontent thoughts and emotions into words. Here are some of my favorite “spiritual” posts of 2008: Difference Between Joy and Happiness, Connecting with Pharaoh, Holding Tired Hands High, Rollercoaster, Coffee Will Stunt Your Growth, and The Rubik’s Cube Gospel.

#2 AM I A “REAL” MAN – March 27, 2008

I have no problem making fun of myself. In fact, I think it is pretty stinkin’ funny. I try not to take myself or this blog too seriously so I like to occasionally point out my many imperfections, embarrassments, quirks, and funny life moments. Here are some posts that fit this category that missed the cut: Working with the Deck Stacked Against You, Stacked Deck Continued, Confessions from a OCD Minister, Results from the Fall, Guilty Pleasures, and Confession Time.

#1 CAN WE PLEASE START TO SET TRENDS? – October 28, 2008

No extravagant words for this one. This one simply is my favorite blog post of 2008.

If you want to go through 248 blog posts from 2008 and make your own top 10 list, that would be sweet. Which ones did I miss? What blog post should have been on the top 10 that wasn’t? What was your favorite blog post of 2008? The Snuggie? Six Flags Observations? Middle School Lunch Observations? April Fool’s Big News? Yearbookyourself.com?

Happy New Year!

I would guess that “April Fool’s Big News” would make number one on some people’s list of top 10 WORST posts of 2008. (AKA Linda and your mom).

I would like to give a shout out to Brian to using his gift to add a little spice to all our lives.

side note: your ability to thoroughly think through every detail amazes me and wanted you to know that I noticed that you made the links to the posts open in a new tab. which is smart and very convenient, making it easy to go back to the original “top 10″ post.

  2. briancromer says:

Thanks, Heather. I love that you notice small details now.

By the way, as someone who has read all 248 posts, what is your top 10 (or at least your favorite)?

  3. Heather says:

Well, my favorite is probably “Real Men of Genius”. On a more serious note, my favorites are “Ministry of Presence” and “Can we please start to set trends”

Also I love “Baseball Look alike” but it was Manyo’s blog post first.

  4. Jan Cromer says:

I’m glad that I’ve been there from the first blog (since I was there from the first moment you existed and when you first entered this world). You constantly amaze me. I always knew that you were talented, but I didn’t know that you could write so well. I love your funny blogs, but your spiritual blogs just blow me away. My favorite blog has to be the one that you dedicated to me. I love you very much and I’m so incredibly proud to be your mom. Happy New Year to you, Heather, Gaby, and Kate!!!!!
