Today’s Prayer…

reflection

Yesterday the weather was absolutely gorgeous. In response to God’s wonderful weather creation, I decided to break my routine and run outside yesterday (normally I only run outside on my weekly long run and during the week I run my smaller runs on treadmills or elliptical machines to help my knees and ankles). I ended up running four miles around a track that surrounds a beautiful lake.

In that moment, it was just me and the Father. No iPod. No distractions. Just me and God.

While “hanging out” with God, one prayer kept running through my mind – “Lord, make me like water.”

Remember that the weather was gorgeous. There were no clouds in the sky and the sun was shining brightly. Not only was the sun shining brightly in the sky, the reflection of the sun was shining just as brightly off the water. It was as if the water was a mirror that was reflecting the beauty of the sun. If I would have never been taught that the sky was up and that water was down, I would not have been able to tell which one was the real thing and which one was the reflection. Trying to find a picture on the Internet that captured this beauty was virtually impossible.

In that moment my prayer was…

Lord, make me like water. Like this water is so beautifully and fully reflecting the sun, help me to beautifully and fully reflect your Son – Jesus. When people see me, I want them to see your Son through me. May more people know you and may you become more famous because of your Son reflecting through my life. More of you; less of me.

May that be our prayer today - “Lord, make me like water.”
