100K Plus People

I guess this is officially “analyze culture through commercials week”. I think it is important for us to realize the message that media is streamlining directly into our homes and brains.

Here is a commercial for a company called “The Ladders“, which is a job database website similar to monster.com and careerbuilders.com

The line from this commercial that has got me thinking this morning is this, “Join the ladders. The premium job site for only $100k+ jobs and only $100K+ people.”

What is a $100K+ person? According to the advertisement, it obviously is not everyone because that is the problem with other job search websites. That means that there has to be another level of people out there – the chosen, the privileged, the $100k+ people.

I strongly disagree with this message. If you watched this advertisement, you might be asking yourself the same question I ask myself after watching that, “AM I A $100K+ PERSON?”

Let me answer that for you. If you are reading this and asking yourself that question, the answer is “YES!” You are chosen. You are loved. You are special. You are talented. You are uniquely created. You are valued. You are beautiful. You are privileged. At least according to the Creator of the universe who loves you enough to sacrifice his one and only son so that we can be with him in Heaven. God thinks you are a $100k+ person, you should too.

Hmm. This is kind of what Ben talked about last night. We are very special and we are $100k+ people! Great blog. Love you big bro.
