Night at the Ballpark

5 08 2008

Last night Heather and I had a great time at the New York Yankees/Texas Rangers baseball game in Arlington, TX. We had a lot of fun absolutely cooking in the August heat (it was still 95 degrees when we left at almost 11pm). The game did not go exactly as I would like – the Yankees lost 9-5 after a walk off grand slam by Marlon Byrd – but it was still an amazing game to watch. I love good baseball.

On a positive note, we got to see Jason Giambi’s first game post-stache.  Yes, the Giambino shaved his mustache and responded to the lack of hair above his upper lip with a monster, upper deck homerun. The stache may be gone for good.

On a sad note, Joba Chamberlain left the game in the 5th with a hurt shoulder. I am comforted by the fact that there is significant time left on the schedule. There is still a way that the Yankees can pull out the division or the wild card. Hope is not lost. Hopefully Joba is not hurt too bad and can pitch more this season. Either way, God is good and way bigger than professional baseball!

Here are some pictures from last night…

I am glad you can celebrate life through sports. Its great when you can get away for a little while and enjoy some time together.

It’s really weird seeing Pudge back at The Ballpark in a YANKEE uniform. But I’m sure he still embraces his roots when he gets to come back to his real home.

Oh yeah. Bailee and Callie were awesome!

And I’m sorry about your Yankees. I’m an Astros gal myself.

Cromer……enjoyed “texting” you during the game. I had Clark and Dustin with me and it was a great evening. The saddest thing is that Clark had to work early this morning so we went ahead and left in the 8th inning and on the way to the car he apologized in advance as he felt that we were going to miss the most exciting part of the game! And he was right !!!!! We listened to it on the way home and cannot believe we missed all that action in the eight and ninth innings, and the grand slam was hit right in the section we just had vacated !!!
Sorry it did not turn out the NYY way but after all it is a 4 game series !!!
Love ya, JB
