Oklahoma City – Day 3

Posted: July 9, 2008 in Faith, Life, Ministry, People, Spirituality, Travel

Today we had the privilege of going back for the second straight day to GRACE RESCUE MISSION, which is a local outreach for the homeless of Oklahoma City. For the third day in a row, we were able to serve lunch and eat lunch with the homeless. Grace Rescue Mission also has a walk-in medical clinic where people can receive medical care and medicine for free. We were able to help organize and sort a ton of donated medicine. To know that the work we put in today will make it much more efficient and accessible to get people medical attention when they need it is amazing.

Tonight we took a break from our VBS/door-knocking activity to help another church throw a block party. We served snowcones, popcorn, and other goodies. We face painted, ran a bounce house, and organized other carnival-like activities. The students did an amazing job being Jesus today.

Here are some pictures from today…

    couple questions:

what do ashley and zac have their hands in? hopefully not food you were serving unless they have on gloves I cannot see.

Is Colin wearing his dad’s reflector jacket from workcamp?

  2. Teresa says:

Aahh yea I am with Heather…what is that…lol
It looks like everyone is having a great time. They may not want to come home.

Yes, Colin is wearing JP’s reflector jacket. He cleverly said, “Safety first!” (just like his daddy).

As for Ashley and Zac, it was like a treasure hunt where we hid coins in that stuff and kids had to dig to find them.

Teresa – they may not want to come home, but they are coming home because I need to get home…so I can leave again for China.

  4. Grant Alexander says:

Oh what memories all this brings to mind! Brian, Heather, and everyone who discipled with the teenagers will be forever blessed for their “Jesus-like” deeds. I know that I’m still sure being blessed specifically with memories of teaching & feeding young children at Central Dallas Ministries. Oh the main thing that I will remain in my mind is the looks on the children’s faces when we served them food. They looked like they hadn’t eaten in days or even weeks. Love you guys in Him, Grant

  5. Victoria says:

all I can say about Colin’s outfit is

    “like father like son”

    love it
