Nineteen adults and students made the trek last night from Sulphur Springs, Texas to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We are here for one week on a short-term mission trip. During the days we will serving at local outreach centers that help feed, clothe, and give shelter to the homeless. During the evening we will be serving by helping out with a Vacation Bible School at a local church.

Here are some pictures from our first day:

Overwhelm Me

Posted: July 7, 2008 in Faith, Life, Music, Spirituality

Have you ever been overwhelmed by God?

That is the question I have been asking myself the past couple of days. At SSWC, we learned a new song entitled “Overwhelm Me.” It is a beautiful song. Here are the words to the chorus:

Overwhelm me

Take me from this place and put me in the place where You are

Overwhelm me

Shake this ground I stand on, I want to be dependant on You

On only You

What does it look like to be overwhelmed with something? I remember feeling overwhelmed the night I proposed to Heather. The anticipation of that moment finally happening was almost too much to handle. I could literally feel and hear my heart about to beat out of my chest as the words “Would you marry me?” came out of my mouth. My life was forever changed in that moment.

Merriam-Webster.com defines overwhelm as “TO COVER OVER COMPLETELY.” Isn’t that interesting? So according to the secular dictionary, to be overwhelmed by God means to have your life covered over completely by God. Hmmmmmmmmm…

God, please overwhelm me. Cover my life up with you.
