Breathing Through Your Mouth

Posted: June 14, 2008 in Faith, Life, Spirituality

This picture has what I have been doing all day.

I have been breathing though my mouth all day today. For the majority of the day, my nose has been completely stopped up. I am talking the “if somebody covered up my mouth, I would probably die after a few minutes” kind of stopped up nose. I am sure I have looked goofy all day (not that unusual from normal life) because I have been walking around all day with my wide open just so I can breathe.

You do know that kind of breathing is not how God intended breathing to be? He did not create our mouths for the main purpose of breathing. However, I am super grateful that he gave us a Plan B when our noses are stopped up.

Just like he did not create us to breathe through our mouths, God did not create us to go without a relationship with him. If you are experiencing life without God, then it is like you are breathing completely out of your mouths. God hard-wired us to connect our hearts with his heart.

How are you doing? Are you connecting with God? Or are you breathing out of your mouth?

This post made me smile super big.

  2. This is somewhat off topic but I am a mouth breather myself and that is only because I always feel like I’m not getting enough air through my nose. The Weston A. Price foundation has a few words regarding that in their site somewhere at http://www.westonaprice.org/

I’m not sure if you’ll find this information interesting but Weston Price theorized that many of us are now mouth breathers because our facial skeletal structures never reached full development due to our parents diets lacking in real nutrition. Therefore since the structure of our faces is incomplete many of us don’t have airways large enough to facilitate full breathing through the nose.

God intended us to breathe through our nose but since man is indeed God man had the power to trade nutrition for profit and create generations of broken men. Thus connecting with God is a matter of connecting with the higher aspects of self. As God represents the highest ideal of man God is truth and love. I claim this because every human thinks they are justified in doing an action (truth) and every human thinks that the choice they make is the best for themselves or others (love).

Connecting with God then is just a matter of being truthful and loving. Those of us who live in denial, ignorance, or fear of truth and live without loving are the ones who always feel “farthest” from God.
