Five People I Want To Spend One Day With

9 06 2008

There are a few people that I would love to get the opportunity to spend one entire day with. Some of these people are famous; others are not famous. The only thing they have in common is that I have found them interesting enough to want to spend some time with them. I am going to stay away from the obvious ones that if you knew me would be true, like Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan.

Here is my list of five people I want to spend one day with:

BEAR GRYLLS - Bear is most well-known these days as the guy on Man vs Wild on the Discovery Channel. This guy has traveled all over the world. He eaten all kinds of crazy stuff. He has climbed Everest. He was in the English special forces and has a really cool accent. He seems so interesting and would have incredible stories. I do not think there would ever be a dull moment with Bear around.

DAVID CROWDER - Crowder is an incredible musician and worship leader. Take a second and look at his picture. Doesn’t he look like a guy that you want to spend some time with? Every time I have seen him live in concert, he has always been hilarious. As a guitar player, I would love to take some time just to jam with him a bit. Not only is he is a great musician, Crowder seems like an very interesting guy.

CHARLES BARKLEY - Chuck is known now a basketball commentator on TNT. However, for years he was known as an incredible basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns. He is known for always speaking his mind, hitting the buffet line a little too hard, standing up for what he believes is right, and being a little controversial. I would love to spend some time with him talking about all sort of topics. I am sure that he would not run out of things to say.

BOBBY KNIGHT - Bob Knight is the all-time winning men’s college basketball coach. He is also a very polarizing figure. People either love him or hate him. He is known for his intensity that can overflow into over-the-line inappropriate behavior for a basketball coach. I would love to sit and talk basketball with him and hear all his stories. He seems to have a great sense of humor too.

ANGIE LIZETH JOJOA ROBLES - Angie is a seven-year-old little girl from Columbia that my youth group sponsors through Compassion International. We have been sponsoring Angie now for over three years and have seen her grow up so much. She is adorable and writes me letters 3-4 times a year. She loves to draw and sends me one of her masterpieces every letter. They are all framed and hanging in my office.

Bear…nice choice. When I had the time, I was an avid watcher of Man vs. Wild.
I would spend a day with…
Adam Brody - seems like we would get along very well.
J.K. Rowling - I eventually would like to write a book, and who else to get pointers from than one of my favorite authors?
Chris Martin - I would just talk and chill with him every other hour. The alternating hours in between he would follow me around and sing to me.
Bobby Flay - I wouldn’t mind having the King of the Southwest as my personal chef for the day, and I would again get some pointers.
Hermione (yes from Harry Potter) - girl of my dreams. it would be magical ;)

Brittany - what a difference between Barbara Steisand and Rob & Big Black. I love it.

Sarah - my list of people who I would like to hang out with one day is definitely a lot longer. This is a list of 5 of those people, not the only 5. Nor is it a top 5.

Teresa - I had no clue that you were such a big tennis fan.

Landon - I love your idea of hanging out with J.K. Rowling. I also have a desire somewhere inside of me to write a book someday. I guess I am waiting for that one really good original idea.

I’d like to spend the day with your sponsored child, ANGIE LIZETH JOJOA ROBLES as well. Heck, I’d like spend the day with anybody’s Compassion sponsored child, mine, yours, or anyone else’s

I’d also like to spend the day with ANYONE who has the smallest desire to sponsor a Compassion child of their very own. Just give me 5 minutes of your time in order that I can tell you how Jesus Christ is saving the lives of over a million children around the world.

Don’t have 5 minutes?

Then sponsor Compassion child (HERE) and I will send you a free copy of “Hope Lives: a Journey of Restoration” by Amber Van Schooneveld
