What’s New On Your iPOD?

1 05 2008

I am a huge music-lover.  I basically love all music except I am not too fond of the country genre.  I am constantly looking for some new, good music.  I also love to help other people find some new, good music and to share the musical goodness.

Here is some music that is currently playing in my iPOD and a link to their myspace website where you can listen to some of their music:

PASSION, God of This City.  This live album is Passion’s tenth worship album and it is fantastic.  Of course it has some songs by Passion vets like David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Charlie Hall, but my favorite songs include “Beautiful Jesus” by Kristian Stanfill and “Hosanna” by Christy Nockels (which is a verbatim, spot-on cover of Hillsong United’s worship anthem).  Great worship album.

MUTE MATH, Mute math.  Mute math’s music has a little of a “old school” feel as you hear the musical influences of The Police and U2 as it combines rock and electric.  The band are practicing Christians but prefer their music to not be under the “Christian” umbrella.  My favorite songs on this album include “Typical” and “Control” (which got stuck in my head for six months after hearing it this summer in the Journey Church in New York City).

LEELAND, Opposite Way.  This is Leeland’s second major album.  I love this bands obvious passion and love for God and music.  What an incredible combination of passions that can bless so many people’s lives!  The lead singer says, “This album is a call to our generation to passionately walk the ‘opposite way’ of the world; that it’s OK to live the Christian life and to be on fire for God, even if it makes us look different.”

GATEWAY WORSHIP, Wake Up The World.  This is another live worship album from the Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.  This album is composed of almost solely worship songs that were written by Gateway’s worship pastors, so all the songs are original.  This is a great album to pop into your CD player on a long road trip and pour your guts out to God in worship for an hour.

YAEL NAIM, New Soul.  This song is the song that plays in Mac’s new commercial for their new Macbook Air.  After seeing the commercial, this song just got stuck in my brain.  I ended up downloading it on iTunes and have been listening ever since.  Here’s the Mac commercial to help jog your memory:

What about you?  What are you listening to lately?  Share the goodness because it is about time for me to get some new music.  What’s new on your iPOD?

I think you meant to say that Mute Math prefer their music NOT to be under the “Christian” umbrella but, absolutely, Mute Math kicks some serious butt!

I got another good one “Quando, Quando, Quando” by Michael Buble’. They played it at my sister’s wedding. I think it means “when”
